Last Wednesday, Apple Inc. removed an app from their store. This app was removed from the store because of protestors in Hong Kong as they used the app to track the movements of the police and planned to violate the rules and regulations in the country. These protestors tried the app to ambush police, and the criminals made a plan to victimize residents with no law enforcement.
Earlier this month, Apple Company also rejected the crowdsourcing app, HKmap.live from their store. But later, they canceled the changes and allowed the app to appear in the store earlier this month but then reversed course last week, allowing the app to appear on its App Store. As the Chinese communist party didn’t like this approval drew, they sharply condemns in their official newspaper about this bad decision made by Apple.
Apple said in a statement that so many concerned apple users in Hong Kong have contacted Apple Inc. and reported about this mapping app. Because of this reason they have started their investigation and found the mapping app is causing the law enforcement problems in the residents of Hong Kong.
The app was used to trace the exact location of the police in Hong Kong, and Apple has verified it with the help of the Cybersecurity, and Crime Bureau officers. They have also found the app is mainly created to ambush the police, and many criminals have used it to victimize residents on the place where there is no law enforcement.
Under Apple’s rules and policies, apps will be removed if the organization found any illegal activity or causing public safety problems at any stage. Also, apple stated that this mapping app has created problems in large numbers, so they have removed the app for public safety.
